Description - Contemporary Urban Dance

The workshop will begin with a warm-up that includes a guided improvisation to familiarize the body with different movement qualities.

To deepen and develop our movements, we will engage in various technical exercises that will challenge us by introducing new approaches to the floor, enhancing our understanding of rhythm, and exploring movement in space. We will explore the interplay between momentum, flow, and staccato, utilizing them as tools to enrich our dance vocabulary.

Biography Safet Mistele

Safet Mistele was born in Germany in 1992 and completed his first degree at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Department of Dance, in Essen in 2014. In the summer of 2016, he obtained his master's degree in dance composition/interpretation. From 2007 to 2012, at the age of 14, he participated in Pina Bausch's dance project "Kontakthof" with young people, touring various European and international cities. Since 2010, he has been teaching amateurs and professionals in a wide range of dance styles, from classical ballet to hip hop. He has performed in various dance productions, including "Romeo and Juliet" at the Aalto Theater Essen, choreographed by Ben Van Cauwenberg, "Surrogate Cities" as part of the Ruhrtriennale 2014, choreographed by Mathilde Monnier, and at Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch in "Wind von West" and "Le Sacre du Printemps," as well as working with Maxine Doyle of Punchdrunk in "After Lethe," Tom Weinberger of Batsheva Dance Company in "Segments on Notes," and in "Röntgen," choreographed by Helder Seabra. In June 2015, he collaborated with Johannes Wieland in an independent production and was an aspirant for the production "Erzengel" during the 2015-16 season. Since the start of the 2016-17 season, he has been a permanent member of the ensemble and received the Emerging Artist Award from the Fördergesellschaft Staatstheater Kassel e.V. in June 2018.
